Art Design Make is a dynamic enterprise located in northern Tasmania. Our
designer-artists create a variety of functional wares exhibiting natural beauty.
Everything we make and supply is handmade in Tasmania. Our staff take great
pride in the recovery and re-use of materials, sourcing materials locally
(including from the property) whenever possible. Think Global Start Local is
one of the businesses basic principles.
Timber pieces are manufactured from Tasmanian or mainland grown exotic
timbers. This includes Ebony (Diospyros humilis) grown in Northern QLD and
W.A. To shore up the future of the business, hundreds of rare and exotic trees
have been planted on the property.
Additional materials used in manufacture include stainless steel, Titanium and
other high quality metals. Most manufactured materials have immense
embodied energy within - these materials are readily available for re-use.
Conscious of the human "ecological footprints", we also have established a pine
and blue gum plantation of 5000+ trees. This aims to offset any carbon
produced by our production processes and supply line.
If that's not enough we also have a 2.5 kva wind turbine to run some of our
machinery. This turbine was designed, fabricated and installed by the lead
designer.
|
Australia Post is used to move our goods around the country. |
